This is Part 2 as we look at how we can bless North Africa in our prayers.
A great booklet called Blessings, Ways to Pray in Hope prepared by WayMakers specifically for prayer walking is the source of much of this material. Please visit their website to find out more information about how you can order copies to use in your prayer life.
What are blessings?
Prayers of blessing are usually expressions of God’s intended goodness prayed by ordinary people who pray in the power of having their hearts aligned with God’s heart. Prayers of blessing are always prayers of hope.
Why pray blessings?
God is not yet finished. God is about to do some of the best things that He has done in all of history. He wants them prayed for before they take place. If people are still alive, then God is still at work. Pray blessings with confidence that God will finish everything He has begun. God wants to fulfil His purposes by prayer. God changes us. As you pray blessings, you will find that you become genuinely concerned for others. You will find yourself growing with courageous hope.
Today, we want to bless the nations of North Africa with transformation. Don’t hold back from hoping for entire cities and societies to be thoroughly changed.
Use Scripture as a starting point and then turn it into prayer. Here is an example :
Bless the LORD… and forget none of His benefits…
We bless the God who blesses North Africa. And because of God’s never failing love, we bless the people of North Africa today : may your memories be clear about all that God has done for you.
…who forgives all your sins…
God is the one who forgives you, oh North Africa. He will free you from the lingering power of wrongs done long ago.
…and heals all your diseases…
God is the one who heals you. He will restore your bodies from every kind of sickness. We bless those across North Africa struggling with pain and sickness with healing in the name of Jesus.
…and crowns you will love and compassion…
God is the one who makes you noble in your everyday acts of kindness. You will be renowned for the compassion on your streets and the sweetness of friendships in the marketplaces. We bless the workers across North Africa will God’s love and compassion.
…The LORD works righteousness and justice for all the oppressed… PSALM 103:2-6
God is the one who has protected the oppressed among you. We bless those who are oppressed with hope today. He will rise again and again, with pure righteous power, to defeat every evil and to establish lasting justice.
