There are big differences between the big cities and the rural communities in Morocco. Many are heading to the big cities in search of work, and find themselves in shanty towns and slums. Work is not so easy to find. And people are often grossly underpaid. Despite laws about minimum wages, many don’t want to risk loosing their job if they spoke up about the inadequate wages.

In rural communities life is slower, more governed by the seasons and by the farm work. Morocco has  a lot of fertile ground and is able to provide most of its own food. Even in rural communities, satellite dishes dot the roof tops.

During Ramadan, please pray for the farmers and labourers who have to continue to work in their fields despite not eating and drinking during the day. Its hot in North Africa in summer! Pray that God will sustain them, protect their health. Pray that Jesus will lead farmers to the springs of living water this Ramadan. Pray that God will lead the laborers to his green pastures. May God stir up a discontent with Ramadan, and a hunger for spiritual Truth that can only be satisfied by Jesus!
